CAN ANY NATION SURVIVE WHILE NEGOTIATING AWAY THE CRADLE OF ITS HISTORY?
For Israel a two state solution for peace in the middle east is not an option, the solution which the Europeans and Obama administration are pressuring the Israeli's to yield the land acquired by the Six Day War in 1967. The area is known as the West Bank, but it is actually the ancient and historical area of Judea in the South and Samaria in the North.
The cradle of Jewish history, from Hebron in the South to Jerusalem in the middle and Nablus to the North, this area is the root of all Jewish History and if Israel cuts the root, Israel will not survive.
This area has never fully known peace and in regards to the Arab-Israeli conflict peace will not come with the cutting away from Israel the root of Israel.
The former ambassador of Israel Yoram Ettinger recently explained the significance of this territorial stretch to students at Herbert W. Armstrong College. "Judea and Samaria is the heartland of the Jewish people, and a strategic necessity for preserving the independence of a Jewish state."
Judea and Samaria consist of the spine of Israel a continuous mountain range known as the mountains of Israel that provide a natural barrier and ideal strategic vantage point for the nation of Israel.
Many are aware of the Golan Heights to the North above the Sea of Galilee and how the Golan is a protective barrier and strategic high country that helps Israel control the Sea of Galilee and the waters of the Jordan river. Well, the mountains of Judea and Samaria are the golan heights of Jerusalem and the national and financial security of Israel. Eighty percent of Israel's population lives and the bulk of Israel's finance, economy and transportation arteries and industry exist in the coastal plain, and it is the hills of Judea and Samaria that provide security and a natural barrier.
Have you ever wondered why it took so long for Jerusalem to fall from the hands of the Turks? The reason Jerusalem is so hard to conquer is because of the Judea Mountains. General Allenby succeeded in World War I and conquered Jerusalem because he was aware of the territory and Biblical passageways that he was able to overcome the natural barrier of the Judea Mountains. General Allenby conquered Jerusalem were many had come before only to be defeated.
The key to Israel's security and existence is not a two-state solution, but Israel in control of its land and controlling Judea and Samaria, the root of Israel.
Joe the Plumber has replaced his wrench for the reporter's microphone. Joe Wurzelbacher is in Israel reporting for the conservative TV website of Pajamas TV www.pjtv.com.
Israel is defending its right to freedom from the Ultra-conservative Islam group of Hamas. The AP reports that Joe is calling for Obama to Help Israel. This coming from a man, who on the campaign trail with Senator McCain agreed with a supporter saying, "vote for Obama is a vote for the death of Israel." Joe the war correspondent, who rose to fame during the U.S. presidential campaign for asking Barack Obama about his tax plan, was in southern Israel to tell about the rockets that rain down from the neighboring Gaza Strip. The black, red and gold rocket given to Wurzelbacher had writing on it thanking him for supporting Israel.
"For Joe the Plumber. Thank you for your support in these difficult days. From the Israeli plumber," said the writing on the slim rocket.
On Sunday, Wurzelbacher had nothing but contempt for Israel's critics and the mainstream media — who he said was not presenting the full story behind the campaign, which has left more than 870 Palestinians and 13 Israelis dead.
The Gaza Strip is a narrow piece of land along the Mediterranean coast between Israel and Egypt.
Just 40km (25 miles) long and 10km wide, it is home to more than 1.5 million Palestinians.
The shape of the territory was defined by the Armistice Line following the creation of Israel in 1948 and the subsequent war between the Israeli and Arab armies.
Egypt administered the Strip for the next 19 years, but Israel captured it during the 1967 Arab-Israeli war and Gaza has been under Israeli control since then.
In 2005, Israel pulled out the troops occupying Gaza, along with thousands of Jews who had settled in the territory. As far as Israel was concerned that was the end of the occupation.
However, that has not been accepted internationally as Israel still exercises control over most of Gaza's land borders, as well as its territorial waters and airspace. Egypt controls Gaza's southern border.
In June 2007, the Islamist militant group Hamas took over the strip, ousting the forces of Fatah, the faction led by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and effectively splitting Gaza from the West Bank in terms of its administration. Hamas had won legislative elections in January 2006.
TODAY JANUARY 13, 2009, Gaza Strip: Israel's land, sea and air bombardment continues for an 18th day, with shelling and air raids hitting Gaza City, Rafah and elsewhere. Israel's military says it hit 60 targets overnight.
Ground troops advance into the southern and eastern suburbs of Gaza City. The Israeli military says an officer and two soldiers are injured by an explosion in a booby-trapped house in the northern Gaza Strip.
Shelling is reported during a three-hour ceasefire held to allow Palestinians to seek food, water and other supplies.
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak makes an unannounced visit to Saudi Arabia where he discusses the Gaza situation with King Abdullah.
US Secretary of State-designate Hillary Clinton says the Obama administration will make "every effort" to forge Israeli-Palestinian peace. But for now, Joe the Plumber and I agree Israel's War with Hamas is a JUST WAR and ISRAEL MUST NOT ACQUIESCE BUT WIN.
Deep in the heart of Sinai, I return from a hike around Jabal Biryea where the Oasis of Bir Biryea can be found. This is a place thought by many to be where Moses encountered the Water of Marah Exodus 15:22. However, I believe Moses and the Children of Israel encamped at this sight it is not the Waters of Marah, this is along the Western Coast of the Sinai by the Red Sea, not here which is way East of Mount Sinai.
But back to my point, I return and start to read the Drudge Report to keep track of all the news one needs to read. Here, I found out Israel has started the ground offensive in Gaza, Israel has divided Gaza and Hamas vows that Gaza will become the graveyard of the IDF Israeli Army.
It is interesting that I am only 70 km from the Israeli border and closer to Gaza than almost everybody I know in the world, but I am probably the last to know that this has occurred, or maybe I am not the only one because another link states that "Obama is silent on the Gaza Offensive.". Maybe Obama has not heard? I do know this EU president has heard and he states, "that a nation has a right to defend itself and Israel is defending itself.". EU President also states global warming is a myth. Man, I like this guy. Yes, Israel has a right to protect itself and is justified, I do not care what the French Say, (French Condemn Israel).
Here I am an hour removed from eating a lunch with Bedouin by the Oasis of Bir Biryea enjoying the fact I have hiked the canyons of Biryea seeing the formations of the canyon walls cut by the finger of God, a place where Moses brought his people on the way to the land God gave Abraham and that same land that is now the nation of Israel. Now in Nuweiba I am able to access the whole world via my Iphone and the Internet and post my thoughts on the world wide web. This technology is amazing and is brought to you by an empire? in decline the USA(another headline on Dtudge). But Deep In The Sinai Who Knew?
Everybody is an expert in Egypt on United States Presidential Politics. Every Egyptian I have contact ask about President Obama. Take Hassan the camel Driver at the Great Pyramid of Giza, Hassan asks, "do you like President Obama?". I thought is the fictional Office of the President-elect getting real play in Egypt? However, my answer did
not go into how Obama is not the President, not
until Jamuary 20, 2009, but I did say I did
not vote for Obama, and I do
not like his politics. "Why you do not like Obama?" Said Hassan the camel driver.
At that point what does it really matter, so I just stated, "I have to wait and see."
The camel driver is not the only
person to mention Obama, I have had Muhammed the guide, Muhammed the carpet seller, and multitude of others. Obama is a popular guy even in Egypt.
I even had a long conversation with our guide about the principles that made the USA prosperous, and how free-markets and less government intrusion in our lives helped to bring about a greater middle
class and in the minds of the world rich Americans. In Egypt there is basically two classes rich & poor, the haves and the
have nots. You do have a middle class, but the majority of Egyptians are poor, why is this? According to my guide it Is the distrust of the government.
In his own way he was saying, it's the government that causes the problems, I said that is the reason I do not like Obama, he sees government as the solution, but as you say it is the problem.
Egyptians have no nose for presidential politics, but at least one knows government is the problem.
Landed in Cairo, Egypt and guess who was there to greet my son and I, Muhammed. He had trouble remembering my name and my son, but no problem for us, I told him that if I yelled his name in a crowded bazaar, many heads would raise.
As he laughed I was searching Drudge and saw the latest headlines where Iran is calling for all Muslims to stand, unite, and fight for the Palestinians.
The Muslims growth are not just in the Arab States of the Middle-East, but reach into Western Europe. The #1 baby boy name in Amsterdam is Muhammed, not only that, in the UK Brits are nervious about the migration of Muslims into their country. Shariah Law is a possibility and the #4 baby boy name given last year in London was Muhammed.
Even in the USA there is a raising tide, I asked our tour guide, "what religion was Barack Hussein Obama," Muhammed's reply, "MUSLIM."
For the next two weeks, Lex Rex, the writer for the INVISIBLE HAND . . . will be serving its readers on location in the Middle East, primarily Egypt and Jordan. How frequent the blogs will be posted and how relevant?, our out of my control, hopefully I can continue on a daily basis, however, in the middle of this journey will be 4 days in the Sinai dessert hiking with Bedouins. The purpose of the trip is to follow the footsteps of Moses and the Exodus. I am accompanied by my first-born son, who is 16 years old. If it is like the last major trip I did with my oldest son which was back in 2003 to Israel during the Second Intifada, this will be a fun-filled trip, with unexpected turns.
I could present more, but as you can see, there is always news in the middle-east, and our trip like the one during the Second Intifada will probably bring about a stuck car in the desert, blisters on our feet, cold and icy climb to the top of Jabal Moses (Mount of Moses or Mount Sinai) and nothing more, but whatever it brings I will try my best to relay relevant analysis with a little humor, unless the internet is dead. As Moses said to Pharaoh, "LET MY PEOPLE GO."
Illinois Sen. Barack Obama delivered a speech on Wednesday, June 4, before the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) where he stated that:
Let me be clear. Israel's security is sacrosanct. It is non-negotiable. The Palestinians need a state that is contiguous and cohesive, and that allows them to prosper — but any agreement with the Palestinian people must preserve Israel's identity as a Jewish state, with secure, recognized and defensible borders. Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided. (Text of Obama's Speech to AIPAC June 4, 2008)
Now more change, President-elect Barack Obama has decided to base his diplomatic approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on the 2002 Saudi Peace Plan, the Times of London reports today. A “senior Obama adviser” tells the Times that Obama will back the plan that divides Jerusalem into two capitals and pulls Israel back to pre-1967 borders:
"Barack Obama is to pursue an ambitious peace plan in the Middle East involving the recognition of Israel by the Arab world in exchange for its withdrawal to pre-1967 borders, according to sources close to America’s president-elect.
Obama intends to throw his support behind a 2002 Saudi peace initiative endorsed by the Arab League and backed by Tzipi Livni, the Israeli foreign minister and leader of the ruling Kadima party.
The proposal gives Israel an effective veto on the return of Arab refugees expelled in 1948 while requiring it to restore the Golan Heights to Syria and allow the Palestinians to establish a state capital in east Jerusalem."
Apparently, Obama has changed his position from his speech at AIPAC. "Jerusalem must remain undivided,” is no longer Obama's plan which drew thunderous applause and roars of criticism later from Palestinian groups. Within hours after the speech, Obama retreated to the Bush administration position — that Jerusalem should be left to the two sides to negotiate in the final settlement. Now he has switched sides to the exact opposite of what he argued at AIPAC. One has to wonder what the 70% of Jewish voters that supported Obama will think of this new position on Israel’s borders and security, but AIPAC will not be applauding.
Is Israel's security really "sacrosanct" to Mr. Obama? Or are these just words and statements to satisfy the would be voters? Is Obama a true friend of Israel? These are all questions that will be answered during the Obama presidency rather sooner than later, because I have my doubts as to Israel's place in Mr. Obama's heart and foreign-policy, the only true friends of Israel are the Jews themselves and the Evangelicals.
The reason Evangelicals are friends of Israel is because of their belief in God's Word (Bible, Tanakh) as inerrant. The Jew and the land of Israel go hand and hand. Evangelicals believe that the Jewish people own a divine deed from God to that land, as God promised Abraham through Isaac that Israel as a great nation will inhabit the Land (Genesis 12:7). Evangelicals believe all of Jerusalem belongs to Israel, in 1004 BCE King David conquered Jerusalem from the Jebusites. Makes Jerusalem the capital. Not only that David buys the Threshing- floor from Ornan the Jebusite, the Temple Mount (II Samuel 24:18-24; I Chronicles 21:18-25).
The Evangelicals know that there were two Temples, the first one built by Solomon and destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 BCE. The Second Temple was destroyed in 70 CE by the Romans and the People of Israel were dispersed, but with a promise that God would bring them back to the land (Ezekiel 36:24-26,34). In 1948 Israel became a sovereign Nation and survivied the War for Independence, many Jews have returned to the Land and are still coming to this day. In 1967 during the Six Day War Israel conquered the Old City of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount. Evangelicals believe a Third Temple will be built in the future. Evangelicals believe that those who bless Israel shall be blessed and those that curse Israel shall be cursed. Evangelicals are the true friends of Israel.
The United States of America has long been a true friend of Israel and we as a nation have been blessed by God because of our support of Israel. Now will Obama abandon his words that "Jerusalem must remain undivided." My prayer and hope is that the USA will continue to support Israel and that Mr. Obama will be a true friend to Israel, but the key is that Jerusalem must remain UNDIVIDED in the hands of Israel, this is NON-NEGOTIABLE Mr. Obama.
